Stock: How to auto generate item code follow by short code of Item group

Question: How to auto generate Item Code follow short code of Item Group?

Answer:

Yes, you can set your running number format for item codes to follow the short code of item group.

1. Go to Tools > Options > Stock > General Stock Setting;

2. Look into Automatic Generation of Item Code Format, key in the format style that you prefer. You may also set the starting number.

3. Click on OK to save your setting.

Go to Stock > Stock Group Maintenance; you may click on New to create new stock group or select existing item group and click on Edit.

Define the code, short code and Description of this Item Group. Click on OK to save.

Go to Stock Item Maintenance > Create New Stock Item.

When creating a new stock item, first select its item Group, then only click on + button to auto generate its item code. In my example, the running item code to be generated is SW00001. Fill in the neccesary information and click on OK to save your new item.
