You have maintained an invalid document numbering format. For example you may have missed out the <span style='color:red'>}</span> or didn’t include <span style='color:red'>@</span>. 

Eg: 
 PO-{@yyMM-<0000>, the correct format should be PO-{@yyMM<span style='color:red'>}</span>-<0000>

 PO-{yyMM}-<0000>, the correct format should be PO-{<span style='color:red'>@</span>yyMM}-<0000>

Maintain the correct format and you will be able to get the correct numbering. You may refer to the hint provided by the system if you are unsure about the numbering format.
