Troubleshooting: Backup error - File create error when creating RAR file. If Backup filename contain unicode or chinese character

Question: When I do manual backup, an error prompted “File create error when creating RAR file. If Backup filename contain Unicode or Chinese character, please remove them and try again”.

Version: 1.8 / 1.9 / 2.0

Possible Reason:

The backup file name or temp folder contains unicode or chinese character.

Solution:

1) Go to File Explorer.

2) Go to Local Disk (C).

3) Create a new Folder.

4) Name the folder name: temp

5) Right click on the folder and go to Properties.

6) Go to Security tab, provide full permissions for group everyone.

7) Go to Options in Backup screen.

8) Click on Browse on Temporary Folder.

9) Choose the temp folder you have just created and then click on OK.

10) Backup again, and now backup completed successfully.
