FA Troubleshooting: Duplicate asset code when create new asset

Question: Why when I want to create a new asset in Asset Maintenance, error message prompted” Duplicate Asset Code found – […], please enter other Asset Code.”? But in the setting of document numbering maintenance, I have updated my next number correctly (Refer to Image 2).

Possible Reason:

Most probably you have maintained the short code under Asset Type Maintenance and you have chosen this asset type for the new asset to be created. Once you have maintained the short code, system will capture the numbering format in Asset Type instead of numbering format of Asset Maintenance.

Solution:

Go to Asset Type Maintenance and edit the Asset Type. Update the next number. And then try to save the new asset again.
