Question: Why are some account types allowed to be created in different currency but some cannot?

Version: 1.9 / 2.0

Answer:

Accounts of Profit & Loss are not allowed to be created in different currency, accounts of Balance Sheet are allowed to be created in different currency except Stock accounts, and Debtor/Creditor Control accounts.

1) To check/determine an account type falls under Profit & Loss or Balance Sheet, go to General Maintenance > Account Type Maintenance.

2) You can check the reporting category for each account type.
