Pos3/5/FNB: Error launch SQL Configuration Manager Invalid Class 0x80041010

Question :

Unable to launch SQL Server Configuration Manager – Invalid class [0x80041010]?

Cannot connect to WMI provider. You do not have permission or the server is unreachable. Note that you can only manage SQL Server 2005 and later servers with SQL Server Configuration Manager.

Invalid class [0x80041010]

Possible Reason :

Multiple SQL server versions were installed in this pc. SQL server configuration manager failed to launch SQL Server Configuration Manager based on correct version.

Solution :

1. Go to Windows Command Prompt (RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR)

2. RUN COMMAND mofcomp "C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SQL Server\NN\Shared\sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof".

Note: replace NN to the correct sql server version file path reference:

Microsoft SQL Server 2014	120
Microsoft SQL Server 2012	110

3. Now you should be able to access SQL SERVER CONFIGURE MANAGER
