Troubleshooting: Backup Error..Cannot open backup device
Question: Error message: "Cannot open backup device '…..' Operating system error 5 (Access is denied)?" upon backup.
Version: 1.8 / 1.9 / 2.0
Possible Reason:
This is a permission issue of temporary backup folder at C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Local\Temp\AutoCount\.
The system cannot create temporary backup file at this path.
Solution
1. Grant permission to temporary folder C:\Users\XXX\AppData\Local\Temp\AutoCount\
Type %temp% in window box
Search for AutoCount Folder and set permission to everyone
2. Create a new temp folder,grant the permission for it and change the backup temporary folder in Backup > Options > Temporary Folder.
