Troubleshooting: Create account book error - Cannot set column ‘ItemGroup’. The value violates the MaxLength limit of this column.
Question: When I try to create a new account book with copy master data from other account book, error prompted “Cannot set column ‘ItemGroup’. The value violates the MaxLength limit of this column.”
Version: 1.8 / 1.9 / 2.0
Possible Reason:
The source account book consists of Item Group length that has been extended to longer length and default length for item group of new account book is still 8 characters.
Note: Default length for Item Group is 8 characters.
Solution:
Before you create a new account book, add the A2006NewCode.setting file into your AutoCount Accounting folder. This file will set your Item Code, Item Group, Item Type, Project, Debtor Type length to maximum length which is 50 characters.
1. Download the A2006NewCode.setting file, place it inside your AutoCount Accounting folder.
Note:
For 32 bit AutoCount, default AutoCount Accounting folder path is “ C:\Program Files (x86)\AutoCount\Accounting 1.8”
For 64 bit AutoCount, default AutoCount Accounting folder path is “ C:\Program Files\AutoCount\Accounting 1.8”
2. Run AutoCount as Administrator and create a new account book as usual and copy the master data. After you click on Finish button on the create account book wizard, system will prompt you a confirmation box, click on Yes to continue to create the account book with maximum column length.
Now, you can create the new account book successfully without any error message prompts out.
