Troubleshooting: Login Message - "Fail to check database exist in Scheduled Backup"...There was no endpoint listening at...

Question: Why every time I login AutoCount, there is a message box prompted out "Fail to check database exist in Scheduled Backup"...There was no endpoint listening at … …”. Even I have installed AutoCount Schedule Backup and added this database into Scheduled Backup in server.

Version: 1.8 / 1.9 / 2.0


Possible Reason:

The server computer Windows Firewall is active and it blocks AutoCount Backup Service Port (default port no. Is 19500).


Solution:

Add Windows Firewall exception for AutoCount Backup Service Port. Have no idea on where to get AutoCount Backup Service Port number? Here you go:


Step 1: Navigate to your Notification Area Icons and double click on the Autocount Backup Server Monitor icon.



Step 2: Look for Server Port under Server Configuration area. That is your AutoCount Backup Service Port number.



Steps for add Windows Firewall exception for AutoCount Backup Service Port.

Note: Some anti-virus program such as Norton and McAfee will take over the control of Windows Firewall. In this case, you may not able to follow the steps below to add exception for AutoCount Backup Service Port. Please contact your IT administrator for further assistance.


Step 1: Go to Windows Firewall > Advanced Settings.



Step 2: Look for Inbound Rules from the left panel and click on it.



Step 3: Look for New Rule… on the right panel and click on it.



Step 4: Select Port and click on Next.



Step 5: Fill in the Specific local ports with AutoCount Backup Service Port number.



Step 6: Select Allow the connection and click on Next.



Step 7: Make sure all 3 checkboxes of Domain, Private and Public are checked and click on Next.



Step 8: Fill in the Name for this rule and click on Finish.



You have successfully added Windows Firewall exception for AutoCount Backup Service Port.
