Troubleshooting: Restore Error - SQL Server cannot process this media family

Question: Error message: "This media family on device …. is incorrectly formed. SQL Server cannot process this media family." upon Restore.

Version: 1.8 / 1.9 / 2.0

Possible Reason:

The version of SQL Server (SQL Server 2012) for the account book to be restored is higher/newer than that installed in your existing server (SQL Server 2008 or 2005).

Solution:

Please install the SQL Server 2012 in order to restore account book into this server.
