Troubleshooting Payroll: Firebird version 3.0 not supported by AutoCount Payroll

Question: I’ve another software using firebird version 3.0. Does AutoCount Payroll support firebird version 3.0? As after the new software installation, I couldn’t login payroll?

Possible Reason:

AutoCount Payroll program does not support firebird 3.0 and version above. It supports up to version 2.6.

Solution:

Install 2 firebird version in a pc in order to make sure both program can run well.

1. Remove 3.0 firebird and go to Start > Control Panel;

Go to Programs and Features;

Select Firebird 3.0 > Uninstall,

Click on Yes to remove all the firebird components.

2. Now, Install Firebird 2.5 or 2.6.

Click on Run and Yes until finish the installation of Firebird.

3. Go to C:\Program Files\Firebird\Firebird_2_5, double click on firebird.conf, click on Select a program from a list of installed programs > OK.

Select Notepad and click on OK.

Change RemoteServicePort to 3051 & Remove #

Click on Save.

4. Go to Start > services.msc.

Find Firebird Server and stop this service.

5. Go to Start > cmd

Insert 1st command: sc delete FirebirdServerDefaultInstance

Insert 2nd command: sc delete FirebirdGuardianDefaultInstance

6. Install Firebird 3.0.

Click on No if there is a warning message prompted.

Run and click on Yes until finish the installation of firebird version 3.0.

7. Go to Start > cmd

Use command line to install a new service for firebird 2.5

1st command: cd C:\Program Files\Firebird\Firebird_2_5\bin (go to firebird folder)

2nd command: instsvc i -g –name “firebird2.5” (please manual type in to CMD)

To manual configure the setting of Firebird 3.0, use command line to install a new service for firebird 3.0

1st command: cd C:\Program Files\Firebird\Firebird_3_0\ (go to firebird folder)

2nd command: instsvc i

You need to make sure the Path folder for Firebird Server – DefaultInstance points to firebird 3.0 location, Firebird Server – firebird2.5 points to 2.5 location.
