Troubleshooting: Backup Error - The server does not allow client to backup or restore database

Question: Backup from client / workstation PC error message prompted “The server does not allow client to backup database...”.

Version: 1.8 / 1.9 / 2.0

Possible Reason (1):

This is a permission matter that server does not allow client pc to backup or restore database.

Solution (1):

1) To allow it, right click on AutoCount Server Monitor icon > click on Backup/Restore Setting.

2) Check the checkbox of "Allow client Pcs to backup database". Click on Save & Apply. Then click on OK.

You shall be able to perform backup from client / workstation PC.

Remark: To allow client pc to restore, enable “Allow client PCs to restore database”.

Possible Reason (2):

The backup server port number is blocked by Firewall or Antivirus.

Solution (2):

Add port 19500 for TCP Firewall and set up an exception on Antivirus.
